Character & Citizenship Education

Goals

  • To inculcate values and build social and emotional competencies in our Marists
  • To develop our Marists into good individuals and useful citizens
  • To deliver a holistic CCE curriculum through the explicit infusion of Character Development and implicit integration of National Education, Values In Action and Student Leadership

Character Development

Under the explicit infusion, Marists go through progressive cycles of Character Development programmes that include STAR lessons, PAL lessons, Civics and Moral Education (CME) and Bicultural Immersion Programmes. Our curriculum also includes modules such as Sexuality Education (SEd), Education and Career Guidance (ECG) and Cyber Wellness.

National Education & Social Studies

Values, skills and competencies are infused explicitly through the delivery of Social Studies curriculum and integrated implicitly through National Education programmes.

With greater emphasis on a multi-disciplinary approach, the curriculum is delivered through pupil-centred activities which hinge on the inquiry-based approach., Pupils are engaged in authentic tasks and alternative assessments that complement field-based learning (learning journeys) which allows learning to take place beyond the classrooms.

All pupils go through the 4 compulsory NE Commemorative events: Total Defence Day, International Friendship Day, Racial Harmony Day and National Day.

In addition, local and overseas inter-cultural engagement programmes are organised for pupils via cultural celebrations (Hari Raya Puasa and Deepavali) and cultural immersion experiences (P4 Trip to Malacca and Malay and Indian Cultural Experience programmes).

Through such meaningful experiences, we seek to develop well-informed and concerned citizens, promote national cohesion and instil confidence in our future.

Values In Action

Our school believes that community involvement allows our Marists to be active contributors as well as concerned citizens in Singapore. Through meaningful community service to school and community, we seek to instil a spirit of volunteerism in them.
